Computer Engineering
Computers have become synonymous with our lives and are present in every aspect of human endeavor. From the smartphones that we use everyday to the daily communication via Internet, from hotel bookings, airline bookings to hospitals, from running huge power plants to banking computers and information systems are everywhere. Computer Engineering is an exciting field of study that is growing at a rapid space with tremendous opportunities for growth and exploration.
This field of study focuses on design, build, and effective use the computers and systems encompassing the tools and techniques, methodology, and theory of how information is derived, stored, manipulated and communicated
The B. Tech. Computer Engineering Curriculum is designed to provide a thorough foundation in computer engineering with emphasis on design and analysis delivered through a project based instruction. Students are taught to synthesize new engineering solutions using real-world computing problems.
The first year of engineering is common with all engineering disciplines. Within the first year itself introduction to programming is started and a sound foundation in mathematics is built. Students are taught a core of computer science courses that provide a solid foundation in computer engineering. Building on this foundation, students explore a variety of specializations through the 07 tracks that are there.
The curriculum imparts state-of-the-art computing methods and emerging technologies and inculcates capabilities related to design, coding, validation, and measurement for the construction of large-scale computer systems and software applications. Throughout the curriculum, innovative thought interlaced with creativity is integrated with computer engineering applications. Instruction is a combination of lectures, discussion, laboratory and highly practical projects.
The curriculum is designed according to recommendations of the ACM / IEEE, USA Computing Curricula 2016. Our graduates will have mastery in areas as described in the Body of Knowledge of the current ACM/IEEE Computing Curricula.
The Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) is an international learned society for computing. It was founded in 1947 and is the worlds largest scientific and educational computing society. The Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the worlds largest association of technical professionals with more than 400, 000 members in chapters around the world. ACM, along with leading professional and scientific computing societies, has endeavored to tailor curriculum recommendations to the rapidly changing landscape of computer technology, the latest being its curriculum report for 2016 which we follow at ADYPU.
The specialty of the B. Tech. Computer Engineering Program at ADYPU is the different tracks of specialization that are available to the students. The tracks provide students with an opportunity to focus on specific areas of computing and uniquely position them for cutting-edge roles in the hi-tech industries. There are currently 07 approved tracks, as well as an individually designed option. The choice of tracks is available at the beginning of second year. Students are provided guidance by the faculty advisor for choosing the tracks.
Artificial Intelligence
This track focuses on robotics, speech recognition, knowledge representation, machine learning, logical reasoning, probabilistic modeling and inference, natural language processing, cognition, computer vision, and computational biology.
Human–Computer Interaction
This interdisciplinary track concentrates on the human computer interactions and teaches topics such as design thinking, user-centered design with an emphasis on novel interaction techniques, creativity, information visualization, tangible computing and rapid prototyping.
Biocomputation
This is an interdisciplinary track, which addresses biological and medical informatics applications through computing. It addresses topics such as biocomputation, medical informatics, bioengineering, databases, advanced algorithms, modeling and simulation.
Computer Engineering
Within this track the students learn to design and build application specific computer systems with integration of hardware and software. Students will learn to build robotic and automated systems, digital hardware with supporting software and networking hardware & software.
Information Systems
In today’s digital world, information is everything. This track brings together topics pertaining to creating, processing and understanding digital information in our ever-evolving world. Students learn about data models, data mining, data visualization, formal query languages, data integrity and data analytics to extract and synthesize information from myriad data sources.
Systems Engineering
This track focuses on the study of computer systems such as compilers, databases, networks, and operating systems. Students learn to design and implement systems with the help of topics such as digital architecture, optimization, memory models, distributed systems, cloud systems, and mobile systems.
Individually Designed
This special track allows students to choose ingredients from the available courses and make their own track that suits their passion and interests. The amount of course work remains the same as that of other tracks, yet offers students with a lot of flexibility in determining their learning focus.
Our graduating students will be prepared as independent thinking individuals who create new opportunities for businesses and organizations by bringing out new solutions and driving new technologies. They will be key to make enterprises more productive and competitive.
This is a great time to join the computing field as technological revolution gathers momentum and most of which is driven on the back of computing power and logic. The future is bright for computing at the moment and likely to be so in the forthcoming years. As per US Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, in the 10-year period, a staggering 71% of the new jobs in science and engineering will be in computing. An article in CNN Money listing “100 Best Jobs in America” named Software Architect as #1 Best Job.
Our students will go on to work in hi-tech industries around the globe and will contribute to cutting edge fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, software design, data analytics, mobile and cloud computing and other such emerging domains.
